Decanter has high praise for this wine and by scoring it 91/100 is recommending it as a great 'Weekday Wine' in the December 2024 edition of the publication. It comes from the Lirac appellation on the right bank of the Rhône, opposite the vineyards of more famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape on the left bank.
Lirac reds are made from the same grape varieties as Châteauneuf-du-Pape (in this wine 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Mourdèvre) and are often recommended as good value alternatives to wines from their more illustrious neighbour.
This bottle is well-priced at £13.99 but a bargain with the £3.00 discount at Waitrose until 12 November.
